We offer specialised programmes for 3 to 5 year olds within the Upper Hutt Community. Our aims are for children to be well, to belong, to contribute, to communicate, and to explore. We have a culture and an environment which focuses on lots of fun and learning.  One of our biggest assets is our grounds which are park like with lots of open spaces; children can run freely and experience the natural world.

We have:

• A strong emphasis on early literacy and mathematical learning.
• An environment which is richly resourced with materials and equipment strategically placed to capture children’s interest, encourage inquiry and promote skill development.
• A strong focus on learning which is clearly demonstrated in the teaching team’s vision and philosophy which underpins all practices.
• Open-ended activities, reference material, informative displays and targeted resources which enrich and reinforce children’s learning.
• Teachers who demonstrate a range of high quality teaching practices who take time and care to arrange resources to a high standard which promote children’s prolonged play.
• Teachers who foster children’s thinking and exploration, extend children’s learning and use appropriate language which is at times, technical and complex to expand their vocabulary.
