Where we encourage children to become independent learners

Solway Kindergarten is one of five kindergartens in Masterton and you'll find us at the southern end of town. We are a 5 teacher kindergarten. Our sessions:

Mon, Wed, Fri: 8.15 - 12.45pm
Tues, Thurs: 8.15am - 2.15 pm

• At Solway Kindergarten we want our children to experience an environment where they are encouraged to stand up for their rights and the rights of others. They have the opportunity to take calculated risks, learn about others, and to value different cultures, lifestyles and abilities.  As a result, they grow up with a strong sense of justice, with the confidence to face any situation as independent thinkers and future leaders who are able to make good choices in life.
• Teachers acknowledge the dual heritage of Aotearoa and children have opportunities to learn about both cultures of our country.
• Children are offered opportunities to develop skills with digital equipment (Information, Communication and Technology).
• Parents/whānau are welcome to stay during sessions.
• Solway Kindergarten provides a fun learning environment where children’s input is respected and incorporated into the programme.
• We employ part-time support people to extend particular areas of our programme e.g. music,  Te Reo/Tikanga Maori.
• Solway Kindergarten is a well-resourced kindergarten with a large outdoor area in which children can extend themselves physically.
