Doris Nicholson Kindergarten is situated down a long drive way at the top of Fergusson Drive in Upper Hutt.
Our morning session runs from 8.30 – 12.30 pm and we are licensed for 45 children with 3 teachers. The afternoon session starts at 1.30 pm and finishes at 3.30 pm, licensed for 30 children with 2 teachers.
The teaching team focuses on providing a friendly and challenging learning environment for all our children and their families which area based on the
vision of the kindergarten and team philosophy:
- We believe our kindergarten is an educational, caring, safe, equitable
and fun environment. Learning is promoted for all children and their families/whānau. - We believe in an environment that upholds the Treaty of Waitangi and where languages, rituals and symbols of children’s’ own and other cultures are promoted and protected.
- We recognise and believe in the vital partnership between the teachers, children, family/whānau working together, sharing responsibility for learning, growth and development
- We believe a partnership between teachers is equally important, based on trust, caring and a united philosophy.
