Carterton Kindergarten is in Victoria Street near the heart of Carterton’s shopping centre. It is a three teacher kindergarten with qualified and registered teachers and provides five morning and three afternoon sessions. Carterton Kindergarten offers each child and their whanau a welcoming, safe, inclusive and nurturing environment.
- The programme encourages all children to be involved in a wide range of challenging and enriching experiences where teachers plan from the emergent curriculum supporting and extending children’s interests with a project and enquiry style approach to learning.
- Children are encouraged to question, hypothesize, experiment, research and take risks in their learning and to encourage and support each other forming respectful relationships.
- The teaching team implements a bi-cultural programme where learning in
Te Reo and Tikanga Maori is immersed into our daily kotahitanga mat-time and then integrated across the curriculum. - ICT is part of our daily programme where children learn to use equipment such as a laminator, book binder, photocopier, laptop for story writing, computers for educational software and Mimio, the interactive white board.
- The outdoor environment provides a challenge course that encourages the development of larger motor skills, self-confidence, balance and
co-ordination.
